George specializes in Goan cuisine and sea food … how do I know ? Well …
a) It says so on the banner
b) I’ve had the food and IT IS awesome
c) All the locals eat there. One can always be sure that the food is good if the restaurant is always packed and 75% of the people eating are locals.
In the capital Panjim, you’ll find George Bar and Restaurant, right around the corner – going towards Panjim Church. On the first look, It’s an old and rickety looking joint, but they …

Because of the fact that Pune has a sizeable Parsi as well as Biryani population, Pune also has a lot of really nice Biryani places. When one thinks of biryani in Pune, a couple of places pop up immediately – Dorabjee’s, Blue Nile, George just to name a few. This post is my take on them.
In the 70’s when my dad was posted at Pune, A couple of joints were his favourites. Dorabjee’s was on the top of that list for Biryani. We finally located the place after endless searching …

The restaurant seems a little confused as to how it wants to position itself.
It has an ethnic Rajasthani ambience, Jagjit Singh ghazals as background score (yeah yeah, I know its not a movie) & Rasam as part of their Thali !! But if the food is good, who’s complaining ?
The restaurant spans 3 floors, the second floor is a bit too dark for my liking but the seating and service is decent.
I have had lunch at Raaga once or twice ( cause its close from office) and took the thali …

The Zoya Factor is a laugh-out-loud funny novel. People from Delhi especially of Karol Bagh origin (like me) will certainly enjoy how amazingly dilli-types this book is ! Phrases like “My heart was dhak-dhaking”, “dhik-chik dhik-chik music”,”so uncool”, “loathing 98 percent; lust 2 percent” or “ok baba” add to the punjabi tadka & explains the emotions the author is feeling so much better than plain ol’ English.
This, more than anything, is what make this book such a good read.
For instance, the manner in which the author describes the Karol …

Soul cafe is a swanky looking, hookah-serving, cafe on MG road. On any given day, one can see hordes of young ones sitting in the crowded open air seating area of the place, taking drags from a hookah like no tomorrow (and of course with each drag, posing for the mandatory mug shot taken using a shitty low res cell-phone camera).
My wife and I have been thinking about paying the place a visit since the last few months and when we were at MG road this afternoon, we finally …

On our last trip to Delhi, we went for drinks to Bonsai. Bonsai, one of the more recent additions to Delhi’s burgeoning list of Oriental restaurants, has a menu with an eclectic mix of Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Indonesian cuisines.
Located in the inner circle of Connaught Place, just above Café Coffee Day, it looks deceptively small from the outside, but is nice and roomy once you step in. There is an open-air extension, but we decided to sit inside because of Delhi’s humidity. The ambience and decor was pleasant. The …

Located in the A block, inner circle of Connaught Place, Rodeo can be classified as an authentic Mexican restaurant, or atleast as authentic a mexican restaurant can be in Punjabi food infested Delhi. With a relaxed, comfy and cozy atmosphere, it is an old favourite with the veterans of Delhi’s pub scene.
The bar has a ’wild west’ theme and though the restaurant just got a make over, it still retains the feel of an old saloon. The waiters in the restaurant are dressed as cowboys and the service is quite …

MYSTIC IN BALI
Having seen tons of banners and being a hard core Chinese food fan, I decided to check out this place with my two friends. Considering its a second restaurant from those who run “Big Chill” (one of the best Italian joints in Delhi), this place already has a great reputation to back it up, but will it live up to its Italian brothers? Thats what i went to find out?
The decor as such is more Bhutanese than Chinese. Since I have been to Bhutan, i recognized a lot …

Tasty doesn’t mean Expensive
One of my favourite things to have for lunch is Chole-Kulchey and if you haven’t stayed in Delhi/Amritsar, in all likelihood, you haven’t tasted the real thing. Sweet…chilly…tangy… utterly delicious food. Do not ever do the mistake of eating this dish anywhere except the North. South/West/East Indians just can’t make it the way its supposed to be.
In the inner circle of Cannaught Place one can see vendors with hand pulled carts with Shiny Big brass vessels filled with the cholley (channa/matter) & a small burner heating the …
