Muxtape, the widly popular and short lived service which that let users create virtual mixtapes, is coming back … in a different avatar.

The GNOME foundation has released the new version of the GNOME Desktop environment, version 2.24.
This release features a lot of bug fixes, performance improvements and new software.
This is also the first release of the GNOME mobile platform which is already a part of the various Linux based mobile device platforms such as Ubuntu Mobile, Moblin, Maemo and others.
The GNOME desktop focusses on ease of use, stability, internationalisation and good accessibility support and the new release only goes to prove the commitment of the developers behind this awesome piece of software.

Finally !! The world’s first Android based phone has been launched by T-Mobile. Called the G1, the phone has apparently been made in collaboration with HTC.
Why am I so excited about it ?
Well, apart from being a pretty decent phone, this is also the first phone in the world to be based on an open platform, Google’s Android project. That has to be a big deal, right ?

Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, has decided to offer it’s users the option of purchasing proprietary media codecs. It doesn’t matter if the users purchase their copy of Ubuntu, download it or bought a computer pre-installed with Ubuntu.
There is an animated dicussion going on about this news at slashdot and other places.
Canonical has definitely opened a can of worms with this move and we will have to wait and see how the open source community in general reacts to this decision. This decision to sure get a lot of attention …

There is something about watching prime time television. Even if the programs are crappy (which they usually are, wonder why they call them prime-time !), you can still smile looking at the advertisements.
Some of my favorite ones are the Hutch ads. It’s a good thing that even after buying over Hutch, Vodafone has kept the tradition of simple and to the point advertising !

Amazon’s Video on Demand service has finally moved out of beta and is available for public consumption. Amazon is offering a few free episodes of 30 Rock and Heroes for your viewing pleasure.
With Video on Demand Amazon is now an even closer to becoming the center of home entertainment. They already have music, movies and now Video on Demand. Awesome ! Now if only they would do something about those downtimes :-)

Ofcourse, everyone’s heard about the debacle that Windows Vista has been. Enough has been written about the disaster that Windows Vista has been.
So much so that it has almost become fashionable for bloggers all over the Internet to trash Vista left right and center. And some of these people don’t even use Windows Vista.
I agree Vista hasn’t been the best of software that Microsoft has released. But, I also feel that Vista has received flak for being what it is. An operating system ahead of it’s time.
